FAQ

Where have all the textbooks gone?
Minnesota Textbook Center

Where have all the textbooks gone?

Pine Technical and Community College (PTCC) textbooks will be housed at the Minnesota Textbook Center, a warehouse facility located on the campus of Minneapolis College. The center processes online textbook orders for several colleges across the Minnesota State system.

Why are textbooks only available online now?

By using a shared service format for textbook sales, PTCC can continue to aggressively attack textbook affordability issues, while maintaining a sustainable Campus Store.

Do I have to order my textbooks online?

Yes, if you are choosing to purchase from the PTCC Campus Store. All textbook purchases and rentals are processed online.

Where do I get my course kits and uniforms?

Course kits and uniforms will be available for purchase in the Campus Store. Uniforms are available for nursing, and shirts for EMS and automotive; and aprons for GTSP and Manufacturing.

Where can I order my textbooks?

Students can order their textbooks on the PTCC Campus Store website, https://campusstore. pine.edu/home. Procedures for online ordering will not change from current methods. Students still are required to create an account separate from their school account to place orders. Instructional videos are available online, as are pamphlets in the Campus Store.

May I use my financial aid to purchase my textbooks?

Students who have a 24-25 FAFSA on file can charge up to $1,200 to their student account in the Campus Store.

After tuition and fees are paid your remaining financial aid or scholarship will apply towards your textbook charges. You will have an unpaid balance on your student account for any remaining charges. Paper invoices are not sent, per Board Procedure 7.6.2. Accounts Receivable Management. Students may view their account activity online in eServices.

What do I need to place my order?
  • Student ID (Tech ID) can be found on eServices, it is different than the StarID
  • Create a login at https://campus-store. pine.edu/home or to PTCC website-pine.edu, Campus Resources, Campus Store
  • Click on Textbooks
  • Select the applicable term
  • Select the Department and Course- Section -Instructor based on your schedule (eg. ENGL 0250 -01 -Boldt)
How will I receive my textbooks?

You will be given two options:

  1. ship to my home, not a PO Box
  2. pick up in Campus Store
How do I know when my online order is ready to be picked up in the Campus Store?

You will receive a confirmation email from the Minnesota Textbook Center confirming your online order after you have placed it on our site. If you do not receive an email confirmation within 12 hours of placing your order, your order was not received, and you will need to submit a new one.

You will receive an email when your order is ready for pick-up. If you are expecting a message from us and you do not see it in your inbox, check your junk/clutter/spam folder.

Where do I pick up my online order that was shipped to the Campus Store?

All online orders can be picked up in the Campus Store (Room 201). You must present a photo ID. The name on your ID must match the name on your order.

Can someone else pick up my online order?

Yes. Enter the person’s name in the "customer notes" field when placing your order. If you did not enter that information while you were placing your order, email us at [email protected] and let us know the name of the person who will be picking up your order. Please note: a photo ID is required to pick up all orders.

PSEO (Postsecondary Education Options) orders can only be picked up by the student or the student’s legal guardian, their name should be entered in the “customer notes” field or we need to have an email from the student.

Will I have to pay for shipping?

Free UPS shipping is offered on all textbook orders.

Can I charge my textbooks to my student account?

Yes! At the checkout page you have the option to pay with "Financial Aid/PSEO/Third Party" or credit card.

How long does it take online orders to be processed?

It typically takes 1-2 business days for an online order to be processed. However, during busy times (like the beginning of each semester), orders can take longer to fill. Please plan ahead and order early.

What if I need a refund for a book that I purchased?

Returns can be shipped to the Textbook Center prior to the term’s refund deadline at the student’s cost and a refund will be issued. Return instructions will be included with every order. All textbooks must be in their original condition and accompanied by a receipt when returned.

How do I cancel an online order?

Orders can be canceled by sending an email to [email protected]. The email must include your name, Student ID (Tech ID), order number, and the reason for the cancellation.

Why was my online order canceled?

Some common reasons for cancellation are:

  • Your credit card was declined
  • Financial aid funds were not available during the charging period
  • Your order was a PO Box
  • Financial aid has yet to come through

If you feel your order has been cancelled in error, please contact Textbook Center immediately, [email protected].

What should I do if I need my books but my financial aid has not been awarded?

If your financial aid is not available by the financial aid charging deadline, you may use a credit card to pay for your textbooks online. Also, many instructors make textbooks, articles, and other course material available through the PTCC Library's reserve collection for use in the library. For access codes, see your instructor. Sometimes you can obtain temporary, limited access.

I requested a used book, but I received a new book. Why?

We reserve the right to make substitutions if your books are not available in the requested condition. If you select "used preferred" and a used book is not available, a new book will automatically be substituted, and vice versa. The dollar amount of your order WILL change if substitutions are made.

What is "order update action and preference"?

This field is to inform us how you would like your order filled if your instructor should change the textbook or course materials before we process your order.

  • Do not add to Order: no changes will be made to your order
  • Add All Materials: all materials (Including required, recommended, and optional) will be added to your orders
  • Add Only Required: we will only add/change your order if the instructor makes changes for required course materials
I am a visiting student from another Minnesota State College/University. Can I still charge my books to my PTCC student account? Can I still order online?

No, visiting students cannot charge their textbooks to their PTCC student account. Your financial aid can only be applied to your home campus.
Yes, you can order your textbooks online using a credit or debit card

Where do I return my rented textbooks?

Rented textbooks will still be returned to the Campus Store at the end of each term.
